Helping kids with the big move is not easy but families move every day and a move can bring your family closer. With a move be straight forward and honest with your kids realize that although it is exciting your children will experience an array of emotions from fear to delight.
When you realize your moving tell your kids to give them time to get emotionally prepared. This is the time to take advantage of explaining the process before the big day give them age appropriate jobs... Examples: Label boxes - little ones love to colour - Decorated moving boxes are lots of fun :) Any other ideas you'd like to share on getting kids involved??
Arrange to visit the school or daycare before enrolling your child. Be sure to point out places your kids attend regularly: the school cafeteria, library, and restrooms. Kids worry about being able to find their way around. Kids are afraid of getting lost you can reduce this fear by making things familiar before the big day!
Take pictures of your new home and encourage your child to share them with friends & school mates. A goodbye party is also a great idea. A party with friends can help ease the pain of good-byes, give your child memories/momentous of friends and make the move a concrete event, and help the child accept reality.
Share your ideas of making the move easier for kids>>>
